Very well tuned Kent Cross flow engine
Impeccable interior
Underside finished very nicely
Used purely as a show car since the rebuild

A fantastic MK1 Escort that turns heads, almost as well as it puts a smile on the drivers face.

History

Purchased new by Mr T Leonard and registered new September the 2nd 1971.

Mr T Leonard would go on to be the sole owner of this particular until 2009, that is 38 years!
In 2009 the car was purchased by Mr G Burns, who undertook the restoration – of which we have pictures showing the very solid shell.

That is right….One previous owner!

The original V5 is also with the car, along with MOT’s since the restoration work was completed – to a very high level.

Body & Paintwork

Having recently undergone a full restoration to very high standards, this car presents extremely well.

The repaint (in the original Ermine White colour) has been carried out very well, and looks fantastic!
Pictures are available of the restoration work, and help show that the shell was in good order, with minimal welding required.

As the pictures show, all chrome work is in very good order, as are the lights, badges and decals.

Remarkably the glass is all in fantastic condition, with none of the usual scratching which is very common with these models.

Since the rebuild, the car has mainly been used for car shows, where it looks perfectly at home, always attracting very positive attention.

The underside of the car has been finished to a very high standard as the pictures show, and we are happy to provide any pictures that are required to interested parties.

Interior & Trim

The interior has not been missed, as is often the case with refurbished vehicles.

This example looks just as good inside as it does outside, with many new parts fitted.

Most of the parts were supplied by renowned interior specialists ‘Classic Trim’, and it shows in the finish/quality.
These parts include seats, headlining, door cards, dash and dash binnacle.

Since the refurbishment, the car has been very well looked after, with the seats being totally unmarked and in brand new condition, and all switch gear working just as it should do.
The dash binnacle looks superb, and the deep dish Springalex steering wheel is again….in great condition and looks fantastic.

A fantastically retro place to be, which is in superb order throughout.

Engine

A very well sorted engine compliments this car perfectly.

The Kent Crossflow has had a full rebuild in 2010, and is now 1660cc, with various other upgrades.
This include a new polished and ported head
244 cams
Power max pistons
Lightened and balanced bottom end
New twin 40 weber carburetors
AP clutch with lightened flywheel

As you would imagine the car loves to be driven and to be revved, it is great fun.
The engine bay itself presents very well, which you can see in the pictures.

Running Gear

As you would expect, the running gear is all in very good condition and the car drives very well.
Steering, suspension and brakes all perform well, with no unwanted noises at all, this car has been built to very high standards so you can rest assured that everything is ‘just so’.

Again, the clutch and gearbox operate very nicely.

Aesthetically the underside has been finished very well, and is ready to attend Classic Car shows.
