An extremely nice MG ZS 180, which when released was often reviewed as a better drivers car than the Golf GTi and other sports family car’s of the time, with particular praise for its steering, handling and suspension.

An excellent low cost modern classic.

History

Originally registered to the supplying MG dealership, in October 2004.

The first private owner, MR N Mattock purchased the car in December 2004 with only 10 miles on the clock, after trading in his Grey 2003 MG ZS180. – All paperwork is present.
The car would remain within his possession until the second owner came along in October 2013, MR S Shamoon

First owner is believed to have been a concours judge, so that should give you some indication as to the quality of this car.

All paperwork and booklets are present within the history file, including MG brochures, XPower brochures, handbooks, service book, you name it, it is here.
Spare key set is present and looks un-used, original purchase invoice, full MOT history, and full service history plus various invoices.
It is fair to say the history file is comprehensive.

Body & Paintwork

Finished in pearl black, this MG ZS180 is quite a looker!

The arch spats, spoilers, wing vents, and deep front spoiler look great and let people know that this is a far cry from a run of the mill Rover 45.
All paintwork is original (we have measured the paint with a paint depth gauge) and has a nice shine to it also.
With only very few stonechips, the car demonstrates extremely low mileage even before seeing the odometer.

The bodykit is without any damage, no cracks or stress fractures present here…
All lights are in perfect order, and all glass is original as you would expect.

The rear MG badge is slightly faded which is very common, but included with the car is a correct, brand new MG boot badge (extremely hard to source now).
Two of the wheels have a tiny mark on the edge, this is very minor and very hard to spot but we like to be honest…. Otherwise the car is literally spotless.

A great looking car, which showed that with this model, MG really did get it right.

Interior & Trim

The interior is as you would expect for the very low mileage….

Open the door and the car genuinely still smells like new, and this is not thanks to an air freshener as the previous owner was keen to make it clear, the car has never had an air freshener!!
The seats are literally as new, not a single mark or bit of wear present having had covers fitted from new.

All switch gear is unmarked, and everything works exactly as it should do.

The original stereo is fitted, and again, works perfectly.
Rear seats are believed to never have been used, and this does show in the condition.

Sought after correct MG carpet mats are present, although generally these are kept in the boot and have only been fitted for shows, opting to use the more hard wearing rubber mats for driving.

Engine

The KV6 2.5 quad cam engine is most likely the best engine MG put in any of the models…..

With a claimed 175bhp, the ZS180 was a good performer, and with the addition of a XPower dual exhaust system and induction system, this example sounds absolute brilliant!
The Exhaust and Intake are MG approved Xpower options and are great additions.

Of course, the car runs perfectly, nice and quiet with no tapping even when cold, this car just purr’s….

The car performs well, with no hesitations through the rev range, and a glorious soundtrack.
The engine bay itself presents very well, and represents a car of the mileage, that has spent the majority of its life being owned by a Concours judge.

Running Gear

As has been mentioned, this car drives very well, and as per the reviews at the time, the steering and brakes are sharp and direct.

A new set of premium tyres were fitted mid 2016 and have covered only a few miles.
No knocks from the suspension or drivetrain, the gearbox is direct and clutch of course operates just as it should do.

A very nice drive, and i am sure anybody who drives this car, will want the window down to listen to the V6.
