An extremely nice, original MG ZS 180, which when released was often reviewed as a better drivers car than the Golf GTi & other sports family car’s of the time, with particular praise for its steering, handling & suspension.

An excellent low cost modern classic.

If the car is to be used on the road we would of course recommend the original tyres were replaced.

History

Originally purchased from Alan Milne MG Rover of Elgin in Scotland in March 2002.

The original owner kept his pride & joy in a heated garage until it was sold in 2018 to it’s second owner in Kent. The car was kept in dry storage with the second owner & covered less than 1000 miles in his ownership before selling the vehicle to ourselves.

All paperwork & booklets are present within the history file, including MG brochures, original sales invoice, handbooks, service book, you name it, it is here.

Spare key set is present & looks un-used, original purchase invoice, comprehensive MOT history & service history plus various invoices.
The car has just undergone a cambelt and oil service within our workshop.
It is fair to say the history file is comprehensive.

Body & Paintwork

Finished in platinum silver, this MG ZS180 is quite a looker!

The sports body kit, spoiler, and mesh grill look great & let people know that this is a far cry from a run of the mill Rover 45.
All paintwork is original (we have measured the paint with a paint depth gauge), presenting superbly, with a really nice shine.

With only a couple of very small touch ins on the front bumper, the car demonstrates extremely low mileage even before seeing the odometer.

The body kit is without any damage, no cracks or stress fractures present here.
All lights are in perfect order & all glass is original as you would expect.

The rear MG badge is very slightly faded which is very common.
Two of the wheels have a tiny mark on, this is very minor & very hard to spot but we like to be honest. Otherwise the car is literally spotless.

A great looking car, which showed that with this model, MG really did get it right.

Interior & Trim

The interior is as you would expect for the very low mileage.

Open the door & the car genuinely still smells like new.
The seats are simply fantastic, presenting near new condition, in fact the rear seats are believed to never have been used & this does show in the condition.

All switch gear is unmarked & everything works exactly as it should do.
The original Kenwood factory upgrade head unit is fitted, which works perfectly.

There is some slight sagging to the headlining in the rear which is a common issue with these cars.

Sought after correct MG rubber mats are present, & in superb condition.

The factory upgrade space saver spare wheel & tool kit are present in unused condition.

Sitting in the car is like taking a trip back to the heyday of MG Rover in 2002.

Engine

The KV6 2.5 quad cam engine is most likely the best engine MG put in any of the models.

With a claimed 175bhp, the ZS180 was a good performer & this one is super smooth & quiet as you would expect.

Of course, the car runs perfectly, nice & quiet with no tapping even when cold, this car just purr’s

The car performs well, with no hesitations through the rev range & a glorious soundtrack.
The engine bay itself presents very well, representing exactly as you would hope.

Having just had a cambelt service you can rest assured the car wants for nothing.

Running Gear

As has been mentioned, this car drives very well & as per the reviews at the time, the steering & brakes are sharp & direct.

No knocks from the suspension or drivetrain, the gearbox is direct & clutch of course operates just as it should do.
A very nice drive, we are sure anybody who drives this car, will want the window down to listen to the V6.
