History
For 1988 Honda needed a bike which was eligible for the World Superbike Series.
This gave birth to the VFR750R RC30.
Produced for the public in small numbers, the RC30 was Honda demonstrating just what it could do.
A 748cc V4 engine, producing 118bhp combined with a lightweight chassis, superb brakes & suspension, a single sided swingarm for ultra quick pit stops – all made for an incredible machine, which not only showed its intent on track, but also looked superb doing it, either on road or track.
Now a absolute icon, the RC30 is in high demand the world over.
This example remained with the main dealer in Northern Ireland for a number of years, before being purchased by a collector and kept as part of an enviable collection within an air chamber.
Having not been used since its very early life, this example has been treated extremely preciously & this is evident in the condition of the bike from top to bottom.
Body & Paintwork
Known for having issues with ‘bubbling’ paint due to the materials used for the fairing panels, it is extremely hard to find an example without this issue.
Only examples which have been in the best of environment’s are safe from this common issue, this example is without any imperfections.
No damage is present on the bodywork, all is as you would expect if you walked into a showroom in 1988.
We have detailed the original paintwork, the gloss levels & clarity are fantastic, the pearl white paintwork which can often loose its ‘pop’ looks superb.
Again the wheels are in original finish & still look great, the mirrors, bar ends & indicators are all without damage or scuffs.
A truly beautiful example, of a very special bike.
Interior & Trim
All trims, switchgear, pegs, handles & seats are in superb order.
Engine
The RC30 sported a 748cc V4 engine, which not only sounded incredible, it produced 118bhp in 1988!
These engines were known to be super reliable, with four valves per cylinder, gear-driven double-overhead cams, titanium con & forged pistons
It is said that 80mph can be achieved in 1st gear of the six-speed gearbox.
A slipper clutch was also fitted.
This example still has the original engine fitted of course, all ancillaries present well, as does the engine itself.
The bike is drained of fuel, but could be commissioned if desired.
Running Gear
All running gear is in superb order.
Zero modifications, the original tyres are even still fitted!
