History

This particular car, chassis number 10799, was originally finished in Sebring Red & sold new in the UK.

This example was purchased in 1981 by Dennis Sellars, (RS3100 Registrar, AVO Owners Club).
Mr. Sellars was also parts manager for Manchester Ford RS dealer H&J Quicks Ltd. Subsequently, he sourced all new body panels, unique to the RS 3100 & took the car off the road in 1985 for restoration.

Macclesfield motor bodies completed all bodywork (supported with pictures in the history file).
They replaced (with the genuine items supplied) the inner & outer front wings, bonnet, slam panel, lower cross-member, radiator panels, battery tray, sills, A-posts & more.
All panels were original Ford parts & were spot welded to an exacting specification.
He also sourced new old-stock lights, trims & brightwork.
Pictures are documented for this work being carried out.

Following this work, the car was sold to respected Ford RS engine builder Ric Wood.
Ric stored the car in his heated workshop before it was sold around 20 years. The buyer then completed the rebuild.

The original engine received a complete rebuild by Ric Wood & has been rolling road tested to 180bhp.

The mileage showing on the last MOT certificate before the car was taken off the road for restoration was 92,738 miles. Since restoration the NOS speedo shows 148 miles.

Body & Paintwork

Finished in the original colour of Sebring Red, this example looks absolutely superb!

Indeed the car is ready to attends shows, or be admired as part of any serious car collection.
The RS3100 stands proud amongst the Capri world, with the Ducktail rear spoiler, full width chin spoiler & flared front wings.

As detailed, all panel used during the thorough ground up rebuild were genuine new old stock Ford items & the restoration has been carried out to a superbly high standard throughout.
All trims, badges & lights present beautifully.

Having been built by the right people, the details are as you would expect, even down to the Goodyear Grand Prix tyres.

We imagine that this is one of very few remaining in this condition.

Interior & Trim

Do not think that the restoration/rebuild was external only, the interior of the 3100 presents just as well as all other areas of the car.

All seats are in great condition, as are the door cards, trims, black headlining, padded dash top & all switch gears.
The carpet is also in great condition, as well as the original steering wheel & gear knob, even the rear shelf looks superb.

This example, like most RS3100’s has the red needle gauges, all of which work & present very well.
It is clear the car has benefitted from various new old stock parts & a real high end rebuild.

Engine

As part of the ground up rebuild, the engine received a complete rebuild by Ric Wood (Ric Wood Racing) & has been rolling road tested at a very healthy 180bhp.
As you can see from the pictures, the engine bay itself presents extremely well, and would please even the most fussy of people.

Having completed only running-in mileage since completion, the car has been within a large heated collection since 2015, coming out only for the occasional sunny day drive.
The car drives well, with no hesitations, it is clear the rebuild and set up was carried out by an expert.

Running Gear

The original four spoke alloy wheels are of course fitted, all presenting immaculately as you would expect & all shod with Goodyear Grand Prix tyres.

On the road the car drives fantastic, and of course all running gear is in superb order, with the underside of the car looking just as good as the top & the engine bay!
