History
Ayrton Senna was a personal friend of the Castiglioni family (partially, no doubt, because he was a repeat high-profile Ducati customer), and had actually personally agreed to the first run of 200 bikes named in his honour before his demise. Profits from the reps went to the Senna Foundation, to provide Brazilian kids with free sports facilities, as long as they went to school. The first run arrived in 1995 – silver with red wheels, with a Strada-spec engine (minus the posh Pankl rods) with an SP chassis (Öhlins shock, cast-iron, fully-floating Brembo discs and braided brake hoses).
To Ducati’s delight the series sold out in no time, and a second run was planned – The Senna II was more or less identical to the first batch.
The Senna III came along in 1998, and the bike here is one of those. The body colour switched to black, a carbon mudguard and airbox were added to the already comprehensive spec sheet.
Included within the history file are all keys, all booklets, some old MOT certificates, some magazine articles & the service history is as follows:

Body & Paintwork
This bikes presents exactly as you would hope, superb from top to bottom.
The paintwork has been machine polished, as anybody knows black can be hard to look after but this presents lovely.
The red wheels are in great condition, all in original finish.
Again the screen, mudguard, swingarm, forks, calliper’s are all in good order – the bike really does ‘pop’ in the flesh and looks very special in the black with red.
No damage, never been dropped or repaired, this is a true collectors grade example.
Interior & Trim
All trims are in superb condition.
Engine
The legendary 916cc thumping V Twin.
The noise is absolutely sublime, particularly with the carbon fibre Termi exhaust – stunning!
This bike is currently drained of fuel with the battery removed for storage/display, but of course we have had the bike running, it runs beautifully!
With servicing at regular mileage intervals the bike has clearly been loved.
Running Gear
All running gear is in excellent order.
