History

Bought in 1979 by the original owner, who also owned a Fiesta as his daily drive.
Covered 21,500 miles up until 1988, when he had a long battle with illness, before passing away in 1996.
The car was then put into his sons name, but stayed put in his fathers garage.

Eventually in 2002, the family decided to sell the car to a collector in Ireland, the car became part of his 50 vehicle classic car collection.
Unfortunately it was whilst being transported to Ireland that the original service history and paperwork was lost/stolen.

The collector never registered the car to himself, and after 10 years of it being stored away and never used, it was eventually sold to Gary Williams, after Gary had pestered the collector to sell it to him for almost 8 years!
In the 2 and a 1/2 years that Gary owned the car, he simply started it once every 5 weeks and took it for a drive every now and again, eventually selling the car for a more useable classic.

The current owner bought this Cortina, as it is the same as a vehicle that his father owned many years ago.
It is now offered here for sale, as he wishes to move further up the classic car ladder.

A very rare opportunity to own, a corrosion free, stunning example of a very rare car indeed.

Body & Paintwork

We are certain the paint finish and overall condition of this car cannot be bettered, the paint (that looks original) has a high gloss shine with no corrosion appearing under the paint anywhere.
All body panels are smooth and show no dents or ripples, all chrome work is bright and unmarked, with not even the slightest surface pitting corrosion.

A very rare car, and extremely rare in this kind of condition, which could be described a concourse.
Viewing is highly recommended to appreciate the condition of this car, as pictures do not do the vehicle justice.

Even the door hinge caps, which are almost always missing on these cars, are present and without damage.

The underside of the car is in superb condition, with no welding ever having been carried out, and no welding being needed due to the perfect storage conditions this car has been kept in.

Interior & Trim

All carpets, seats and internal trims are like new, steering wheel foot pedals and gear lever show very little use.

Engine

The engine runs perfectly, especially as it has just had the carb and timing checked.

It starts very well, with no smoke on start up which is quite amazing for a 36 year old Pinto engine.
It pulls well through the gears, with smooth progression, and a quiet gearbox and diff.

Running Gear

The car drives exactly as it should do, with no issues at all.

The brakes work very well, and are not needing any works carried out.
The suspension is again, exactly as it should be, with no knocks, or untoward noises.

It has been noted, that this car is that original, that the ‘propshaft modification’ which almost all of these cars had, has not been carried out on this car, it is completely original.
