The Collector Edition is a stand out variant of the C3 Corvette, with lots of differences to the normal C3, including a specific paint scheme & interior trim, bronze tinted removable roof glass, opening glass rear hatch, specific wheels, plus much much more.

A low mileage example is very hard to come across, so do not miss this rare opportunity.

History

Of all the C3 Corvette variants, the Collector Edition was the halo variant.
Exclusivity & desirability combined, the Collector Edition had a very long list of changes over the other C3 models, this was much more than just a badging exercise.

This Corvette collector edition was originally purchased on the 13th of January 1982 in the state of New Jersey just outside the city of New York. What a brilliant way to start the year!

This example having done only 27,405 miles, comes with the original dealer windscreen tag, it also has the original brochure which is a great source of confirmed information on the variants.
Also in the history file are various invoices, along with the original purchase invoice.

Imported in 2019, the car has had little usage since being in the UK, which of course means it has not been exposed to harsh UK weather condition thankfully.

The car has just benefitted from brand new tyres, along with a service as well.

Body & Paintwork

The Collector Edition is easily recognisable, thanks to its specific paint scheme, the silver-beige metallic paint with the pin stripes & fading shadow treatment really set it apart, as well as the specific wheels.

The bronze tinted removable roof glass is also specific to this model and looks great.

As you would expect, the car presents well with very few age related imperfections, as do the wheel, glass & lights, as well as the Collector Edition badges.

The pop up headlights operate as they should do & present very well.
The car also has new tyres fitted.

Interior & Trim

The interior of the Collector Edition was not missed when the car was being designed, with specific silver-beige metallic interior with multi tone leather seats & door trim.

Also for this model variant was upgraded carpeting, with this example still having the correct original floor mats in place.

Two very nice touches are the bronze tint removable glass roof panels & also the frameless, opening rear glass hatch which was a first for a Corvette.

Of course the interior is in very nice condition with such low mileage, including the glass roof panels & the opening rear hatch. The luggage cover is also in very nice order & operates as it should do.

Engine

Turn the key & the 5.7 litre V8 with cross fire injection, fires into life effortlessly.
The car runs very well, both when cold or when up to temperature.

As can be seen from the pictures, the engine bay presents very well & is all original.

On the road the car drives as you would expect, being smooth through the rev range, with smooth gear changes as well.

Running Gear

All running gear is in good order as you would hope.
The car drives nice & straight, both when driving & under braking.

New tyres have just been fitted & the car has just benefitted from a service.
