If ever a car looked like an actual concept car, the Alfa Romeo SZ is it, as such the iconic looks & extremely low production numbers mean that the SZ is becoming ever more collectable & presents a high point of wild 1980s coachbuilding & raw, analogue performance.

History

Originally sold by Motorway Sports Cars Ltd in Faversham, this SZ has been cherished since day one.

Created as a joint venture between Alfa Romeo, FIAT, & Zagato, the SZ was created to showcase brutal aerodynamic efficiency & unmatched road holding.

Having covered just 7,263 miles in 35 years, this example has been stored & preserved as a centerpiece in a private collection.
The history file comes complete with original literature, registration documents, & records confirming its low mileage.

Body & Paintwork

Finished in the only colour available for the SZ, Rosso Alfa with a contrasting grey roof, the composite bodywork presents very well as you would hope.
Being handbuilt, the SZ is known to have flaws & defects from new, however this example is in remarkable order throughout.

The radical, angular ‘concept car’ styling, which earned it the Il Mostro nickname, remains crisp & sharp.

All badges, glass & lights are in very good condition, as you would hope for an example presented by ourselves, as are the distinctive split rim wheels.

Interior & Trim

Inside, the driver-focused cockpit is trimmed in luxurious Tan leather with a leather-wrapped dashboard & carbon-composite accents.

The seats present very well, with minimal wear, perfectly mirroring the 7,000-mile odometer reading.

The distinctive Zagato badging, factory steering wheel, & original switchgear remain factory-fresh & uncracked.

Engine

Under the bonnet is Alfa Romeo’s masterwork: the 3.0-litre naturally aspirated ‘Busso’ V6 engine.

Producing around 207 bhp, it propels the SZ from 0-60 mph in approximately 7 seconds, accompanied by an exhaust note that any enthusiast will love.

The engine bay presents very well as can be seen from the pictures & the car starts & runs beautifully.
No unwanted noises, no smoking, just a silky V6 engine which performs very well with a smooth power delivery through the rev range.

Running Gear

Developed using chassis components from the Alfa 75 Group A rally car, the SZ is famous for producing ground-breaking cornering grip (exceeding 1.1g in period tests).

The hydraulic ride-height adjustment system, uprated brakes & iconic Speedline alloy wheels remain in excellent condition.

On the road, the steering is sharp, communicative & direct, offering a completely tactile driving experience.
