History
Registered new on the 3rd August 1998 by the Rover Group Ltd of Bickenhill, this car was subsequently sold to the first private owner through Rover Main Agents, Lex Rover of Chelmsford.
Only 2 previous owners from new, and with a fantastic history file to warrant the low mileage.
Virtually every MOT from the first to the current is neatly filed & all handbooks are present, in the original leather binder.
Spare keys & documentation is included within the file, along with an original sales brochure, the FDH Real Story Article & other FDH information is included.
The car will have a fresh service upon sale.
Body & Paintwork
Finished in fantastic Pearlescent Tahiti Blue, the original factory finish is simply superb & representative of a virtually new car.
The Pearlescent paint, in the words of Rovers marketing, contains translucent mica particles to give the illusion of constantly changing shimmering colour, which in the sunlight is entirely true, beautiful.
All body colour trim items, rubbers, Rover Triplex glass & light fittings are perfectly preserved & commensurate with such a low mileage & garaged from new example.
Underside inspection will delight originality seekers with even factory stickers that have survived attached to the shock absorbers!
The titanium coated T-Bar glass roof panels can be neatly stored in the original bag when not in use.
Wheels are in great original condition, & the car even still sports the original tyres.
The car comes with a very expensive fitted indoor car cover.
An example like this is unlikely to exist elsewhere, it really is a fantastic car.
Interior & Trim
The contoured seats with lumber & optional height adjustment are upholstered in unmarked full Ash Grey leather, which look & even smell like new.
The usual places you might expect to find wear are all in great order, with the steering wheel, pedal rubbers, carpets, and kick plates all being in great condition.
All carpeting has been protected by genuine ‘Rover Coupe’ inscribed velour mats.
All controls, gauges, switches & warning lamps operate just as they should do.
Engine
The fantastic 200bhp T-Series engine is what really gave these cars the reputation of being somewhat of a ‘sleeper’ back in the day.
0-60mph came around in only 6.2 seconds and they were capable of a top speed of around 150mph, an easily tuned engine, and somewhat of a surprise to many a standard Cosworth in the day.
Regular maintenance and two cambelt changes, the last one in March 2019, show that whilst the car has been used sparingly, it has not gone unloved.
Upon sale we will be carrying out a service.
The engine bay is factory standard and correct in every way whilst being spotlessly clean.
The car does not smoke at all, either on cold nor warm start up, on boost or on over-run.
No signs of the often talked about head gasket failure.
The car drives well, with no hesitations & surprising performance.
Running Gear
All running gear is as you would expect, of a car with such low mileage which has been loved like this example has.
The clutch & gearbox operate really nicely & the brakes work well.
Wheels are in great original condition, & the car even still sports the original tyres.
