Brief

Here we are pleased to offer, a very rare Subaru Impreza Cosworth CS400, of which only 75 examples were produced worldwide.

The CS400 is the result of one of the most exciting automotive collaborations in recent times.
The first genuine Cosworth-developed road car since the Escort Cosworth.

The Subaru Cosworth was to be the fastest road going model ever produced for the UK.
With a Cosworth built engine and vast further upgrades all by Cosworth, the CS400 took the motoring world by storm on release with a recorded 0-62 in 3.7 Seconds & a standing quarter mile in only 12.75 Seconds. The CS400 certainly achieved its goal of being the ultimate modern day Subaru Impreza.

With the price increase seen on earlier limited number Subaru Impreza’s, some of which are six figures now, we believe the CS400 Cosworth to be a fantastic investment which can be enjoyed.

Only 75 produced, incredible performance and the Cosworth name attached to it….. A truly special modern classic.

History

A total of only 75 CS400 Cosworth models produced and firmly classed as collectable.

Number “50” was first registered in January 2012.
This example was originally registered to Subaru and has since had 2 further previous owners, both of whom have been enthusiast owners who have continued to care for this example with a no expense spared mindset.

A cambelt service was carried out in 2018, so the cambelt is not due to be changed, the AP Racing front discs and pads were replaced at great expense only 6k miles ago.

The only single modification to this car is that the Bilstein suspension which is prone to failing, has been upgraded to BC Racing adjustable coilovers.
The original Bilstein shocks were replaced once before (paperwork present) but after failing for a second time, the owner opted for this aftermarket upgrade.

Service History:
2012 – 807 miles
12 – 5,009
14 – 10,556
14 – 18,451
16 – 24,066
18 – 24,888 (cambelt)

MOT History:
2014 – 18,461 miles
15 – 20,834
16 – 24,066
17 – 24,635
18 – 24,934
19 – 25,198

A very nice example, of what is surely a future investment which can be enjoyed.

Body & Paintwork

The CS400 is what some may consider, subtle – a wolf in sheep’s clothing if you will.

To the general public, it may look like another Subaru Impreza hatch – but to the enthusiast or any petrol head, it is much more than that.
The lightweight gunmetal 18″ alloys are the first sign that this is in fact a Cosworth, these wheels go some way to hiding the huge Cosworth branded AP Racing front brake set up.

Metallic silver is in our opinion, the best available colour for the Cosworth, helping emphasise the bulging arches and bonnet.
Subtle Cosworth badges are present front & rear, all of which hint at the performance this car hides beneath.

This example is all original, and without any dents, scratches, or damage – a few stonechips are present to the front but only as you would fully expect from a car with 25k miles and original paintwork.

Wheels are all unmarked, and the brake calipers present very nicely.
All lights, badges and trims are in good order of course, a very nicely presenting example from top to bottom.

Interior & Trim

The interior of the CS400 is a blend of Cosworth specific detailing, and of practical comfort.
Cosworth is emblazed on the full leather skeleton sport seats, which are all in fantastic condition.

The piano black inlays are embossed with STI on the centre console & Cosworth to the main veneer.
Original Cosworth floor mats are still in place & the sill plaques are undamaged with the Numbered Limited Edition Cosworth detailing.

Everything works just as it should do, these cars are well known for being comfortable enough to do a long distance journey with no problem at all, whilst still giving the driving position and support from the seats that you can happily exploit the fantastic performance without any problem.

Engine

The engine in the CS400 is somewhat, a work of art.

Fully built by Cosworth, these engines are built to give plentiful power with great reliability.

Among other items, the engine’s were built with new pistons, bearings, con rods, head studs, gaskets, intake system, exhaust system and turbocharger.
This example is without any modifications over the original Cosworth specification, very impressive performance is available from the car, and upon release it received fantastic reviews across the motoring press.

The engine bay itself present well, and proudly displays the original Cosworth numbered plaque in the engine bay.

Running Gear

All running gear is exactly as you would expect, and the car drives superb.

The only single modification to this car is that the Bilstein suspension which is prone to failing, has been upgraded to BC Racing adjustable coilovers.
The original Bilstein shocks were replaced once before (paperwork present) but after failing for a second time, the owner opted for this aftermarket upgrade.

All tyres are premium Michelin’s.

Wheels are unmarked, and the AP Racing brakes were recently renewed so one less thing to consider.
This car is ready to be enjoyed.
