Here we are pleased to offer, a very rare & very low mileage Subaru Impreza Cosworth CS400, of which only 75 examples were produced worldwide.

The CS400 is the result of one of the most exciting automotive collaborations in recent times.
The first genuine Cosworth-developed road car since the Escort Cosworth.

The Subaru Cosworth was to be the fastest road going model ever produced for the UK.
With a Cosworth built engine & vast further upgrades all by Cosworth, the CS400 took the motoring world by storm on release with a recorded 0-62 in 3.7 Seconds & a standing quarter mile in only 12.75 Seconds. The CS400 certainly achieved its goal of being the ultimate modern day Subaru Impreza.

With the price increase seen on earlier limited number Subaru Impreza’s, some of which are six figures now, we believe the CS400 Cosworth to be a fantastic investment which can be enjoyed.

Only 75 produced, incredible performance & the Cosworth name attached to it….. A truly special modern classic.


Within the vast history file, are all booklets, including the correct CS400 warranty & service booklet & the now very rare original brochure booklet.
Also within the file is the spare key, various service invoices & MOT certificates, plus recall notices from Subaru plus much more.

The recent works that have been carried out/parts that have been purchased are detailed within the file & show a no expense spared lifestyle for the car.
A very rare car in its own right with only 75 produced, but even more rare with such low mileage & provenance.

Body & Paintwork

The CS400 is what some may consider, subtle – a wolf in sheep’s clothing if you will.

To the general public, it may look like another Subaru Impreza hatch – but to the enthusiast or any petrol head, it is much more than that.
The lightweight gunmetal 18in alloys are the first sign that this is in fact a Cosworth, these wheels go some way to hiding the huge Cosworth branded AP Racing front brake set up.

Metallic grey is in our opinion, a superb colour for the Cosworth & matches the brochure car colour, helping emphasise the bulging arches and bonnet.
Subtle Cosworth badges are present front & rear, all of which hint at the performance this car hides beneath.

This example is without any dents, scratches, or damage.
A great finish to the paintwork with lovely gloss levels having previously been ceramic coated – a clearly well cared for example.

Wheels are all superb & the brake calipers have all recently had a refresh so all present very nicely indeed.
All lights, badges & trims are in good order of course, a very nicely presenting example from top to bottom.

Interior & Trim

The interior of the CS400 is a blend of Cosworth specific detailing & of practical comfort.
Cosworth is emblazed on the full leather skeleton sport seats, which are all in fantastic condition.

The piano black inlays are embossed with STI on the centre console & Cosworth to the main veneer (original protection films still in place on the centre console)
Original Cosworth floor mats are still with the car (in fantastic condition), rubber Subaru mats are in place so as to keep the original Cosworth carpet mats un-used & the sill plaques are undamaged with the Numbered Limited Edition Cosworth detailing.

The previous owner had fitted an aftermarket stereo, however this has since been replaced with a new old stock factory 6 CD Clarion unit.

Everything works just as it should do, cigarette lighter is un-used, headlining & trims are all in great condition & the interior still even smells fresh.
These cars are well known for being comfortable enough to do a long distance journey with no problem at all, whilst still giving the driving position & support from the seats that you can happily exploit the fantastic performance without any problem.


The engine in the CS400 is somewhat, a work of art.

Fully built by Cosworth, these engines are built to give plentiful power with great reliability.

Among other items, the engine’s were built with new pistons, bearings, con rods, head studs, gaskets, intake system, exhaust system & turbocharger.
The turbo charger has recently been rebuilt by Owens at a great cost, mainly for peace of mind as the owner was fastidious.
The engine itself is without any modifications over the original Cosworth specification, although an upgraded intercooler & dump valve are fitted.

Very impressive performance is available from the car, and upon release it received fantastic reviews across the motoring press.

The engine bay itself present well, and proudly displays the original Cosworth numbered plaque in the engine bay.

Running Gear

Whilst the car was undergoing some detailing & refreshing of areas, the ‘refresh’ of the brakes turned in to a full on front end refresh.

The refresh included:
Subaru genuine front & rear splash shields, drop links, drive shaft rubber seals & OE Front arm bushes, new OE top mounts, track rod ends, drive shaft clips, brake pipe clips, X4 drive shaft nuts, new front lower arms with new bushes & ball joints, cone sections for lower ball joints, new rear ABS sensors, New OE Locking wheel nuts and so on.

This was all on top of the front brakes being removed & completely refurbished, finished as per factory spec Cosworth logo’s.
Front disc bells removed & re machined from new billet alloy & anodised to OE spec with new fixing bolts.

Rear Brembo STI Callipers also removed & fully refurbished.
