Imported new as a family investment
One for the serious collector.
We had interest in this car prior to advertising, but the Covid lock down came around so we decided to wait until the lockdown was eased before advertising the vehicle.
History
Originally purchased as a family investment in 1999, imported new from Japan – it has remained with the same family since brand new.
Driven only a couple of times when new, and then the car has been stored away with regular starting and turning of wheels to ensure all was still good as it should be.
After a bereavement in the family we were contacted by the family and asked our opinion on the vehicle, after many conversations we had a meeting at our showroom facility.
The owners being suitably impressed, we were asked to collect the vehicle, prepare it for sale and to market the car on our platforms.
After collection, we performed a full service where we removed the original cambelt, pulleys and water pump, which were all in ‘as new’ condition.
Also changed were all fluids and filters – genuine parts only of course – all original parts removed remain with the vehicle.
A single stage machine polish has been carried out and here we have the vehicle ready for the new owner.
The V5 was misplaced so we have applied for another V5 on behalf of the owner and we believe it states one previous owner (the import company).
A true time warp Impreza 22B.
Body & Paintwork
As you would fully expect, this 22B looks absolutely fanastic.
All paintwork is 100% original without any touch ups or repairs.
The paint is in great condition having benefited from a professional enhancement detail session ready for sale.
Inspecting the paint, only a couple of very small marks are present which is testament to the owner who has kept the vehicle away from damage for 22 years!
Badges are original, as are all trims, all glass and all lights – the headlights even retain the original paper stickers on them!
Likewise – the drivers window is free of the usual scratching which most three door Impreza’s suffer from.
A stunning, and unrepeatable car.
Interior & Trim
The interior is, dare we say it, even more impressive than the exterior.
Open the door, and you will be greeted by the ‘new – 1999 smell of a Subaru Impreza’.
You will then notice the sill kick plates still retain the original protection film and are of course unmarked.
Likewise, the pedal rubbers, gear knob, steering wheel, and ‘satin’ finish of the dashboard are all unworn.
The rear seats retain the original protection covers from new with the Subaru sticker still in place on the protection cover.
A true step back to 1999 in the greatest of forms.
Simple, effective, and as new.
Engine
The 22B certainly needs no introduction, so we will not bore you with the factory figures or needless sales waffle.
What we will tell you is that this example is unmodified, and although it has spent its life in storage – it has been started periodically to keep things turning and operating correctly.
The car runs perfectly, as you would expect.
For piece of mind the car has undergone a full major service using genuine parts, this included the cambelt, pulleys, water pump, fluids and so on.
The original items still remain with the car.
As you can see, the engine bay itself present very nicely – looking very fresh and ready to be displayed.
The intercooler does have a few imperfections, the owner informed us it was like it from new and he can only assume somebody lent on it – this does not detract from the car and only adds to the unique story of the car.
Running Gear
As per the rest of the car, all running gear is original without modifications.
For obvious reasons (retaining the low mileage) we have only driven this car on/off our trailer and on/off the workshop ramps to carry out the servicing, however we can confirm that the car drives and operates just as it should do with a fantastic feeling gear change, direct steering and good brakes.
The original wheels are still in place, and are still wearing the original tyres – which even still have the ‘P Zero’ decal in place on the sidewalls.
The running gear does naturally have some very minor surface corrosion in places – but only what you would expect of a 22 year old Subaru Impreza which has spent its life in storage.
A truly wonderful 22B which is ready to take its place in a collection – be it in the UK or indeed overseas.
