Body & Paintwork

As with the rest of the car, the bodywork is in very good order, with no damage or corrosion on the car at all.
The original passion red paintwork still looks great (measured with a paint depth gauge to confirm original paintwork), and the stripes finish the car off fantastically.

Anybody who knows these cars will know that, like most Japanese cars of the era, the paint is quite thin and quite soft so are susceptible to marks/chips – this example with it being original, does have some small stonechips – and is an extremely honest example.

All badges are in very good condition, as are all the lights.
The decals are all original items, and not cheap lesser items.
The wheels are unmarked, and present really well.

An extremely well presented example throughout.

Interior & Trim

Step inside & you’re greeted by the signature red & black Recaro seats, unique to the Tommi Mäkinen Edition. These seats offer excellent support & are in great condition with only light signs of use.

The red-stitched Momo steering wheel, gear knob, & gaiter are all present & in excellent condition, as are the original carpets, door cards, & dash, all free from the usual wear or fading.

With upgraded carbon trims & a period correct Sony head unit, the interior of this Evo is peak 2000s Japanese tuner car.
Everything functions just as it should, including the air conditioning, which blows ice cold.

Engine

Under the bonnet lies the legendary 4G63 engine, a rally-bred powerhouse that helped define a generation of Japanese performance cars.
This Evo has been sensibly upgraded with modifications done to further enhance what Mitsubishi created.

Starting from cold, the car does not smoke, and the engine does not have the usual tapping when cold (or warm for that matter).
When driven the car has great performance, even by today’s standards this is still a very capable machine.
Smooth power delivery throughout the rev range, with no smoking either when on boost or on overrun.

Having been freshly serviced & thoroughly inspected in our workshop, it starts, idles & performs exactly as it should, eager to rev, with a strong pull through the rev range & the unmistakable turbo surge that defines the Evolution experience.

Running Gear

As you would expect, the car drives superbly.

Gear changes are crisp, the clutch feels strong, & the brakes offer excellent performance with a firm pedal feel.

Suspension is tight with no unwanted noises. The car feels sure-footed whether driven gently or spiritedly, a true driver’s machine in every sense.
The underside is also in good condition in general.
