History

Within the history file of this car, are a multitude of receipt’s and invoices, which show the car had almost £21,000.00 spent during the restoration, which has resulted in a fantastic example of a Mk2 Cooper S.

The restoration has been documented with a disc showing images, and also some hard copies within the file.

Of course this Mini comes with a British Motor Industry Trust Certificate, which details the car being built on the 12th December 1969, and despatched on the 17th December 1969. This example is HPI clear, and the HPI states original colour being red with black (roof) and having not been exported or had a number plate change.

A rare opportunity to acquire such a beautifully presented example, of a very rare variant being the Mk2 Cooper S, which is clear of any adverse history.

Body & Paintwork

Nicely finished in fantastically contrasting Red with black roof, this example looks simply superb, and nicely complimented with the old english white Cooper S steel wheels with chrome hub caps (all of which wear Yokohama AO32 tyres).

Pictures within the file show the car was fully stripped, and the body was restored to a high standard, with various panels being replaced for correct new panels, before being painted.

Chromework is all in good order, the doors line up well, opening and closing nicely and looking great with the correct external hinges.
All badges also present very nicely, as does the glass and rubbers, exactly as you would expect of a car which has been professionally restored.

Interior & Trim

One of the first things you will notice about this beautiful Mini’s interior, is the fresh and ‘new’ smell as you open the door.
The interior is simply fantastic, having been completely re-trimmed in the original black vinyl coated seat fabric, new black carpet set, matching door cards and restored flawless dash which all complement the exterior wonderfully.

The door pockets are unmarked, the supplying dealer plaques still in place in the door shut, the original bakelite two spoke steering wheel is in excellent order. The large instrument cluster houses the Smiths gauges which all function perfectly as does the fresh air heater. The boot area is impressive with gleaming gloss black painted twin tanks synonymous with the Cooper S and new carpeted boot floor… Stunning

Engine

As can be seen, the engine bay presents very nicely, with a few subtle upgrades to bring performance up to a slightly more modern level without loosing originality.

Within the file are various receipts, for many new parts, including a Piper camshaft, SU jetting kit, and lightened flywheel, all helping the car feel that little bit more potent without being over the top.

A Longman 1275 unleaded cylinder head is fitted, at great expense.
This cylinder head was left in original paintwork, to show it is an original Longman cylinder head and not just a red painted standard cylinder head.

Running Gear

As you would expect, all running gear has been renewed and the car drives absolutely beautifully.

Receipts show that no stone was left unturned with this restorations, and nothing has been left.

A truly lovely example, from top to bottom.
