This extremely low mileage Escort Cosworth required sales preparation, including the underside prior to sale at Silverstone Auction.
This was quite a straight forward job considering the low mileage nature of the car, however the car had never had any attention paid to the underside condition during its life.
The vehicle was placed on to our ramp to have a full inspection – with such low mileage and originality it was agreed that the original wax was to be left in place where possible, and no components were to be painted or plated as it would take away a large part of the originality.
Certain areas did require light removal of the wax so the components could be cleaned and treated properly. We managed to replicate the original wax afterwards in these small areas.
All side skirt mounting bolts and wheel arch liner bolts were refurbished in the correct black finish (these bolts are available new but only in silver now).
The underside of the side skirts and bumpers were also cleaned and polished.
The wheels were removed, deep cleaned both inside and outside and the tyre gel applied to both the inner and outer walls.
Whilst the wheels were off the car, the arches were thoroughly cleaned, and plastics treated to give a new lease of life.
Of course the suspension components were cleaned whilst the wheels were removed as well.
This Escort Cosworth went on to sell for a record price at Silverstone Auctions.
