This beautiful Capri 280 is without doubt one of the lowest mileage examples remaining, and anybody who is looking for a Capri 280 will know the difficulties in finding a good, un-restored example, let alone one with less than 1,000 miles. This example ticks all the boxes.
History
Whilst most very low mileage vehicles tend to naturally have little to zero history, this example does have a nice little file.
Of course original booklets are all present, in the original Ford binder.
Further to that, the car has 3x keys, original order form and credit agreement paperwork.
The original V5 is also present (along with the current V5 of course) and a couple of old MOT certificates, with an invoice for a service at Ford in 2001.
Upon sale the vehicle will be serviced and will have 12 months MOT applied.
Body & Paintwork
The Brooklands green paintwork is in very good order, with a lovely deep finish.
None of the usual swirls and marks from years of poor washing technique, instead a nice glossy and deep finish really sets this car apart.
All panels are of course original Ford.
Only a few small imperfections are present on the car, these are minor, one being a small mark next to the fuel filler cap, and another being a small mark on the edge of the drivers door. These could be touched in but we wanted to keep the vehicle original.
All trims are in good condition, bump strips are original and in good condition, as are the bumper end caps.
All satin black window frames are superb, original.
Interior & Trim
Anybody familiar with the Capri 280 will know that the interior tends to show signs of wear quite quickly.
The piping on the Capri 280 specific leather seats tends to discolour, and the leather itself fades and cracks if not cared for correctly.
The dashboards are also prone to cracking, amongst many other usual Capri ‘faults’.
This example has a truly superb interior, with the original Leather Recaro seats still being in great order, showing very little sign of wear and still in the ‘matt’ finish rather than having gone ‘shiny’ like most.
The dashboard is crack free, and without any distortion.
Carpets are still nice and thick, switch gear is all working correctly as you would expect, this includes the rear wiper, and the heater fans work on both speeds.
The Gear knob and steering wheel are in very good order.
Engine
Starts first turn of the key effortlessly – just as you would want.
The Capri 280 sounds beautiful as the V6 fires in to life, and instantly idles smoothly.
The car holds temperature just as it should, and will be supplied serviced of course.
The engine bay itself presents very well, and as per the rest of the car is all original.
At some point a battery appears to have leaked on and caused some discoloration on the inner wing and battery tray, although a car of this age being this original, we feel this adds character and does not detract from the car overall.
Running Gear
As per the rest of this Capri, the running gear is all in superb order.
Brakes are among the best we have felt in a Capri, and the suspension is without any knocking.
The steering feels tight, and the original specification tyres are fitted.
The spare wheel is in the boot, un used with the original tyre still fitted.
All wheels are of original finish, and are unmarked.
The underside of the car itself is very good indeed, and could easily be made ”Concours” if you so desired.
