A fantastic looking and fantastic driving example, which really is of the highest quality build.

History

Originally a 1300L Automatic, this car was purchased in 2010 by the Waine brothers, & was stripped to a bare shell & rebuilt to a very high standard.

In 2015 we owned the car ourselves & a regular collector purchased the car from us, since then it has lived in a climate controlled display room & has been enjoyed out on the road a handful of times.

Body & Paintwork

The first thing you notice about this car is the beautiful Olympic blue paintwork, not only the colour but also the quality of the paintwork.
The fact the car has withstood the test of time since being built, with no signs of any deterioration helps to get across the level of build this was.
It is clear to see, that this is no ordinary Mexico recreation.

A total bare shell rebuild has been carried out & this extremely high standard of finish has been carried through the entire shell, including the full underside of the vehicle & engine bay area.
The inner arches, door shuts & boot have not been missed & are of the same high standard.
The ‘bubble’ arches have been fitted beautifully & give it the full ‘rally car’ effect.

All lights & badges are in fantastic order just as you would expect & the original spec decals look fantastic.
A real head turner wherever you may go.

Interior & Trim

The interior of this car really compliments the high standard carried through the vehicle.
A six dial instrument cluster has been fitted, along with an RS steering wheel.

The original seats are fitted & are in superb condition, showing no signs of any wear, the carpet is still thick & without any damage or signs of wear, along with the doorcards, headlining & trims.

A truly fantastic place to be.

Engine

The engine in this vehicle is an absolute cracker.
The engine bursts into life with the first turn of the key & runs beautifully from completely cold all the way through to normal running temperatures which it maintains perfectly.

As with the rest of the vehicle, the engine is of a very high standard indeed.

A 2.0 Pinto engine was chosen as the best candidate for doing this car justice & was built using a strengthened 205 block, with some cylinder head modifications.
With the help of a glorious sounding 4-2-1 Ashley Sports exhaust, the car produces 110bhp.

A rebuilt Type 9 five speed gearbox has been fitted, along with a new clutch and quick shift.

An absolute pleasure to use & of course the gearbox tunnel has been modified correctly.

Running Gear

Obviously the chassis has had the correct strengthening carried out, as per an original Mexico.
This includes the chassis rails & flitch plate’s, it has anti tramp bars fitted of course, along with an anti-dive kit and 22mm anti roll bar.

Upgraded shock absorbers and springs have been fitted, along with vented front discs.
With these upgrades finished with nice size Minilite alloy wheels, the car handles & stops brilliantly & is absolutely fantastic to drive.
